Sustainability

The European Green Pact is a set of initiatives put forward by the European Commission whose main aim is to make the European Union climate neutral by 2050. With its adoption, the EU and its Member States have committed themselves to reducing the EU's net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels by 2030.

In order to achieve these initiatives, key priorities of the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes include environmental conservation and the fight against climate change. The main aim is to reduce the environmental impact of all actions included in the programmes by adopting measures such as green travel, reuse of materials, sustainable purchasing, carbon footprint measurement or awareness raising at individual level.

The organisations and participants involved shall incorporate green practices and an environmentally friendly approach into their projects by introducing alternative methods of carrying out their activities. Priority will be given to those aimed at developing competences for environmental sustainability, especially those implemented in the framework of the contribution of education and culture to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
