Training cycle - ESC

The European Solidarity Corps includes a training and evaluation cycle for the young participants and the organisations accredited with the quality label.

Training and evaluation cycle for young participants

The training and evaluation cycle for young participants consists of the following sessions:

  • Pre-departure training (only for cross-border activities), provided by the applicant organisation. This focuses on the specific needs of the participants and the specificities of the project, the activity and the host country.
  • Post-arrival training (only for activities lasting more than two months), organised by the National Agency of the host country and aimed at participants active in that country. Its aim is to introduce them to the host country and prepare them for their experience in the European Solidarity Corps.

For activities lasting less than two months, this training shall be organised by the host or support organisations.

  • Mid-term evaluation (only for projects lasting more than 6 months), organised by the National Agency of the host country and addressed to participants active in that country. It allows the young participants to evaluate their activity so far, meet other participants who are carrying out their activity in the same country, exchange experiences and share their learning.
  • Annual European Solidarity Corps events, organised by the national agency of the sending country, bring together participants from volunteering, solidarity or humanitarian aid projects who have been active in the past year. It serves as a forum for meeting, exchanging experiences and networking among participants. It is also the space for the national agency to receive feedback on projects, organisations and, in general, on all aspects of its experience.
Training and evaluation cycle for organisations

The training and evaluation cycle for organisations consists of the following activities:

  • Training for newly accredited European Solidarity Corps quality label organisations: newly accredited organisations receive training on the values and principles of the European Solidarity Corps, the role of participating organisations and project management.
  • Annual European Solidarity Corps event for European Solidarity Corps quality label accredited organisations: allows accredited organisations to share experiences, ideas and best practices, as well as to strengthen their networks. It allows for an assessment of the difficulties encountered by organisations in managing projects. It can take place in conjunction with the annual Event for young participants.
